Neurology

Pets can experience many different problems associated with the nervous system. Our board-certified veterinary neurologist will work with you and your primary care veterinarian to diagnose and treat any neurologic problems your pet might have, to try to provide proper neurologic function, and to maintain the best possible quality of life for your pet.

Some neurologic conditions are emergencies, and we’re here 24/7 if your pet requires immediate care. Indications of neurologic problems in your pet can include: seizures, pain, weakness, and loss of coordination, along with many others. Infections, tumors, trauma, and degenerative diseases can all affect the nervous system.

Neurological Conditions We Diagnose and Treat:

  • Intervertebral Disc Disease
  • Seizures and Epilepsy
  • Vestibular Disease
  • Syringomyelia
  • Degenerative Myelopathy
  • Tumors of the Nervous System

If you feel that your pet has a nonemergency neurologic problem, notify your primary care veterinarian, who can determine whether a consultation with our veterinary neurologist is appropriate. We have the ability to perform numerous neurologic tests and procedures. We’ll talk with you about your pet’s history, and perform a full neurologic examination. This will help to localize the problem, and narrow down possible causes. From there, other tests may be performed. These include advanced imaging such as CT and MRI, various blood tests, electrodiagnostic testing of nerves and muscles, spinal tap, and others. Treatment may include neurosurgeries, including disc surgery, biopsies, and brain surgery for various conditions.
